1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Ancher.ai (“Ancher,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects personal information when you use our website, browser extension, mobile application, APIs, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
Ancher is designed to help users save, organize, retrieve, and reuse content more effectively. In doing so, we process information that you provide directly, information generated through your use of the Service, and information necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories.
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information. Such as your name, email address, account identifier, login credentials, and profile details.
- Sign-in provider data. If you register or sign in through a third party such as Google or Apple, we may receive basic profile and authentication-related information authorized by that provider.
- Content you choose to save or submit. Such as URLs, page titles, text selections, notes, highlights, images, files, annotations, prompts, and other content you intentionally submit to the Service.
- Searches and inputs. Such as search queries, prompts, commands, preferences, feedback, and support requests.
- Communications. Information you provide when you contact us, respond to surveys, participate in research, or communicate with our support team.
- Payment and transaction information. If you purchase a paid plan, billing-related information may be processed by our payment service providers. We typically do not store full payment card numbers ourselves.
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage information. Such as features used, actions taken, content interactions, retrieval activity, session activity, clickstream events, and approximate timestamps.
- Device and technical information. Such as browser type, operating system, app version, device type, language settings, device identifiers, IP address, and diagnostic information.
- Log information. Such as request metadata, referring and exit pages, error logs, crash reports, and system activity needed to operate and secure the Service.
- Approximate location information. We may infer approximate location (for example, city or region level) from IP address or similar signals for security, fraud prevention, service performance optimization, and compliance purposes.
2.3 Information From Third Parties or External Sources
- Metadata from saved sources. When you save content from a website, application, or file, we may retrieve or derive associated metadata such as title, description, favicon, thumbnail, author, or source information.
- Authentication providers. We may receive information from third-party identity providers as described above.
- Service providers and integrations. If you connect third-party tools or integrations, we may receive information necessary to provide the requested integration functionality.
2.4 Derived and Generated Data
To operate core product features, we may generate or derive data from the content and activity associated with your account, such as:
- summaries,
- tags,
- categories,
- topic labels,
- semantic indexes or embeddings,
- deduplication signals,
- ranking or relevance signals,
- personalization preferences, and
- other machine-generated metadata.
We treat such derived data as information related to your use of the Service where applicable under law.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
3.1 To Provide the Service
Including to:
- create and manage your account;
- authenticate users and maintain sessions;

- support integrations, synchronization, sharing, and account administration features.
3.2 To Personalize and Improve Relevance
A core feature of Ancher is helping users retrieve the most relevant information efficiently. To do this, we may use your saved content, interaction history, query context, and preference signals to:
- improve ranking and retrieval quality,
- tailor search results and recommendations,
- reduce duplicate or low-value results, and
- adapt the Service to your usage patterns over time.
If we offer controls to limit or disable certain personalization features, those controls will be described in the product settings or help documentation. Disabling personalization may reduce the quality or effectiveness of some features.
3.3 To Operate, Maintain, and Improve the Service
Including to:
- monitor performance, reliability, and feature usage;
- debug and fix errors;

- comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
4. AI Processing and Personalization
The Service uses artificial intelligence and machine-learning-assisted systems to support core product functions. Depending on the feature, these systems may process content you save or submit, your queries, and related metadata in order to:
- extract information,
- generate summaries,
- classify or label content,
- improve retrieval and ranking,
- identify relationships between items, and
- personalize results based on your account activity and context.
4.1 Personalization
We may maintain personalization data or preference signals associated with your account to improve result quality and usability for you. These signals are intended to improve your own experience with the Service.
We do not sell your personalization data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4.2 Use of Third-Party AI Providers
Some AI-enabled features may rely on third-party service providers or model providers acting on our behalf. When we use such providers, we send only the data reasonably necessary to provide the relevant feature or service, subject to contractual and technical safeguards.
Where applicable, we require such providers to process data only for the purpose of providing services to us and not to use that data to train publicly available general-purpose models, except as otherwise disclosed to you or permitted under applicable terms and law.
4.3 Model Improvement and Training
Unless we specifically disclose otherwise and provide any legally required notice, consent, or choice:
- we do not use your private saved content to train models made available to other users as a general feature of the Service; and
- we do not sell your content to data brokers or advertising networks.
We may use de-identified, aggregated, or otherwise non-personal information to improve our systems, analytics, and operations where permitted by law.
5. Browser Extension, Mobile App, and Device Permissions
Because Ancher may be used through a browser extension, mobile application, or device-level sharing features, the Service may access certain information or permissions depending on the product surface you use.
5.1 Browser Extension
If you use our browser extension, it may access information such as:
- the URL of the page you choose to save,
- the title and metadata of that page,
- text or content you explicitly select or submit,
- content necessary to capture a page or excerpt when you trigger a save action, and
- technical information needed for extension performance and security.
We intend the extension to process content in connection with user-initiated functionality and related service operations. Any permissions requested by the extension should be interpreted in light of the feature set and platform requirements.
5.2 Mobile Application and Share Features
If you use our mobile application or device sharing features, we may process content, links, files, images, or metadata that you intentionally share with the Service, along with device and diagnostic information necessary to operate the app.
5.3 Permissions
You may be able to manage certain device or application permissions through your browser, operating system, or device settings. Limiting permissions may affect feature availability.
6. Google User Data
If you choose to sign in with Google, Ancher uses the access you authorize only to create, secure, and let you access your account.
6.1 What Google Data We Access
For Google sign-in, Ancher may access your basic Google account profile information, such as your name, email address, profile image, Google account identifier, and authentication-related identifiers authorized by Google.
6.2 How We Use Google Data
We use Google user data only to provide and improve the account features you request. This may include signing you in, creating or maintaining your account profile, securing your account, preventing abuse, providing support, and communicating with you about the Service. Ancher does not sell Google user data and does not use Google user data for advertising.
6.3 Storage and Security
Google user data may be stored in our systems when needed to provide the Service, maintain your account, and keep the Service secure and reliable. We use safeguards described in this Privacy Policy, including encryption in transit and at rest, and access controls designed to limit access to authorized personnel and service providers.
6.4 Sharing
We do not share Google user data except as necessary to provide the Service, comply with your instructions, work with service providers acting on our behalf, protect the Service and users, comply with law, or complete a business transaction as described in this Privacy Policy. Service providers may process Google user data only as needed to provide services to us and subject to contractual restrictions.
6.5 Retention, Deletion, and Revocation
We retain Google user data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect our business and users.
If you disconnect Google sign-in, revoke Google access, or delete your account, we will take commercially reasonable steps to delete or de-identify associated Google user data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required or permitted by law, security, fraud prevention, backup, archival, accounting, or compliance purposes. Disconnecting or revoking access stops future access to Google services through that connection.
You can revoke Ancher’s access to your Google account through your Google account security settings, through any product controls we make available, or by contacting us at privacy@ancher.ai.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, SDKs, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the Service and understand how it is used.
These technologies may be used for the following purposes:
- Necessary technologies. To enable core functionality such as authentication, security, session management, and account access.
- Functional technologies. To remember settings and preferences.
- Analytics technologies. To understand usage, improve performance, and evaluate feature adoption.
- Communication or attribution technologies. To measure the effectiveness of campaigns or service communications where permitted.
You may be able to control some of these technologies through browser settings, device settings, cookie banners, or consent tools where required by law. Disabling certain technologies may affect the functionality of the Service.
8. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
8.1 Service Providers and Subprocessors
We may disclose information to vendors and service providers that help us operate the Service, such as providers of:
- cloud hosting and storage,

These parties are authorized to process information on our behalf only as needed to provide services to us, subject to contractual restrictions and applicable law.
8.2 Integrations and User-Directed Sharing
If you choose to connect integrations, share content, invite collaborators, or otherwise direct us to disclose information, we will do so consistent with your instructions and the relevant product functionality.
8.3 Legal, Safety, and Compliance Reasons
We may disclose information if we believe doing so is necessary to:
- comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or lawful governmental request;
- protect the rights, safety, and security of Ancher, our users, or others;
- detect, investigate, or address fraud, abuse, or security incidents; or
- enforce our agreements and policies.
8.4 Business Transactions
We may disclose information in connection with an actual or proposed merger, acquisition, financing, asset sale, reorganization, bankruptcy, or similar transaction, subject to customary confidentiality and legal requirements.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect our business and users.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason we hold it. For example:
- Account information is generally retained while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward.
- Saved content and related metadata are generally retained until you delete them, close your account, or as otherwise required for legitimate operational or legal reasons.
- Logs, diagnostics, and security records may be retained for shorter or longer periods depending on security, reliability, and compliance needs.
- Derived data such as indexes, summaries, embeddings, and ranking signals may persist for a period reasonably necessary to support the Service, after which they may be deleted, regenerated, aggregated, or de-identified.
If you delete your account, we will take commercially reasonable steps to delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required or permitted by law, including for security, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, legal compliance, or backup and archival purposes.

- request deletion of your personal information;
- request export or portability of certain information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
- opt out of certain marketing communications or, where applicable, certain personalization features.
You may also be able to access, update, or delete certain information directly through your account settings.
To submit a privacy request, contact us at privacy@ancher.ai. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before processing certain requests. Where permitted by law, you may also authorize an agent to submit requests on your behalf.
If we deny your request, you may have the right to appeal depending on your jurisdiction.
11. Region-Specific Disclosures

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms may be defined under applicable law.
12. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including measures such as encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, logging, monitoring, and periodic security review.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you should also use appropriate safeguards such as strong passwords, secure devices, and caution when sharing access credentials. To report a security concern, contact us at security@ancher.ai.
13. International Data Transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate.
If you use the Service from outside the country where our systems are located, your information may be transferred across borders. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers, which may include contractual protections such as standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.
14. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in violation of this policy, please contact us at privacy@ancher.ai, and we will take appropriate steps to investigate and address the issue.
