Everything you can make from a YouTube video

A summary is one of them, and usually the least useful. Paste a link, then pick what you actually need.

What Ancher keeps

Most tools flatten a YouTube video into plain text at this step. Everything below is what they lose.

Caption track with timings

Published and auto-generated captions both come through, and every line keeps the second it was spoken.

Key frames from the video

Frames are sampled and scored, so a number shown on a slide survives even though it was never said out loud.

Description and linked sources

The creator's own cited links come along, so a claim can be traced past the video.

Likes and comment counts

Reception is a weak signal about correctness and a strong one about which claims got attention.

Title, channel, duration, date

Basic provenance, kept so the finished work can attribute the video properly.

What to check in a YouTube video

Three things that change what the output can be used for. Read them before you ship anything built from a YouTube video.

  • Auto-generated captions mangle proper nouns and numbers. Any name or figure that was only spoken — never shown — is the kind that comes back wrong, so check it against the frame before you quote it.
  • Captions carry no speaker labels, and Ancher will not invent them. An interview arrives as one continuous transcript, so anything that depends on who said what needs a source that separates speakers.
  • With captions disabled you get keyframes, description, chapters and metadata and nothing else. That is enough for a social post pack and not enough for a transcript, so check the video has captions before you plan around one.

One workspace for everything you save

YouTube videos sit alongside every other source in your workspace, so one deliverable can draw on all of them at once.
