Reports are written to be complete and decks are built to be argued, which makes this a compression problem with a sharp edge: most of the document is context that a room does not need and cannot absorb. Ancher uses the document's own structure to find the argument, promotes the figures and tables as real data slides, and puts everything else where it belongs.
The honest version
The obvious move is one slide per section, and it produces a deck that walks through a document instead of making a case. A report's structure serves completeness — background, method, results, discussion — while a deck needs the finding first and the method available if challenged. Following the headings inverts the order the room needs.

Turn this report into a deck. (1) State the argument in one line from the finding, not the document's opening. (2) Order slides for a room, not for the report's structure — do not do one slide per section. (3) Make every chart and table a data slide with its page number. (4) Move method and background to an appendix. (5) Put the prose around each figure into speaker notes. If the report has no clear finding, say so rather than inventing one.

Headings, body and captions arrive as separate elements, so the document's own outline survives ingest.
A page-level anchor is what makes a citation checkable by someone else holding the same file.
Tables come back as their own elements rather than as flattened lines, so a figure stays attached to the row and column that give it meaning.
Figure captions frequently carry the tightest statement of a finding in the whole document.
Elements come back in sequence, which is what lets a section be reassembled rather than guessed at.
The same path takes .docx and .pptx, so a deck and its write-up can sit in one collection.
Usually six to ten from a forty-page document. Reports are written for completeness and most of that completeness is context, which belongs behind the deck rather than in it.
It produces the structure and content — the argument, the slide assertions, the data slides with page anchors, and the notes. Moving that into your template is a paste, and the template is the part that should be yours.
Then the deck says so rather than manufacturing one. Some documents are surveys of a landscape, and presenting one as if it concluded something is the most common way this goes wrong.
