Pasting an article into slides produces dense text that a presenter reads aloud while the room reads ahead. Ancher separates the two jobs: each slide takes one claim from the piece, the sentences that supported it become speaker notes, and the article's own charts become the data slides rather than being redrawn from a description of them.

The usual failure is describing a chart in a bullet because the chart itself was lost during extraction. Inline images come through on this route, so the figure that carried the argument stays a figure. Where this goes wrong
  • Charts in an article are usually the publisher's work. Presenting them internally is one thing; republishing them needs permission.
  • One article rarely fills a deck honestly. If it stretches past a dozen slides, the extra ones are padding.
  • A chart lifted from an article carries its own axis choices and framing, which a room will read as yours once it is on your slide.

Do the article's images actually come through?

Yes, inline images are captured on this route, which is what allows them to be used as data slides. That is the main practical reason to build a deck this way rather than from a text-only extract.

How many slides from one article?

Usually eight to twelve. Articles contain fewer distinct claims than their length suggests, and forcing more slides means splitting one argument across three of them.

Where do speaker notes come from?

From the article's own explanation of each claim. Putting that text under the slide rather than on it is what keeps the slide presentable and the presenter necessary.
